A Jan. 20-27 auction will advance a 26-month effort of Entegris Inc. to reduce its operations in Chaska, Minn.

On the block will be a plastic tubing line including a Genca 11/2-inch extruder, four Toshiba injection molding machines ranging from 120-320 tons of clamping force, and a variety of dryers, blenders, temperature controllers and material hoppers.

Auction organizer Hilco Industrial LLC of Farmington Hills, Mich., will hold a preview Jan. 19.

Entegris gave notice in November 2008 about plans to transfer manufacturing functions from its largest Chaska building, where it occupied 178,000 square feet, to other facilities, mainly in Kulim, Malaysia, and Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Chaska closure affected about 200 jobs worldwide and led to 2009 restructuring charges of $15.5 million for transfer-of-production costs, severance and retention payments, lease buyouts and accelerated depreciation expense.

The building remains for sale, according to Steven Cantor, vice president of corporate relations. The initial listing price was $6 million.

Entegris owns and has operations in other Chaska facilities occupying 192,000 square feet.

Publicly traded Entegris was founded in 1966. The Billerica-based company employs about 2,800 and reported profit of $22.4 million on sales of $178.2 million for its third quarter, which ended Oct. 2.
